Friends, fans and firefighters will gather at Danny Gans' former showroom for his memorial service this afternoon. The 3 pm ceremony at the 1600-seat Encore Theatre will feature speakers including Steve Wynn, Donnie & Marie Osmond and mob lawyer-turned mayor Oscar Goodman.
Says Norm Clarke of The Las Vegas Review-Journal: "The celebrity vocal impressionist will be remembered for his grit that lifted him from a career-ending baseball injury to a 13-year headliner run as one of the top acts in Las Vegas."
The service had been announced as invitation-only, but as we reported exclusively yesterday, free tickets were distributed to ordinary Vegas folk through a ticket service (co-owned by Gans' manager, Chip Lightman).
Dans had begun a longterm engagement at the Encore three months before he died in his sleep on May 1st. He was 52. The coroner has still not announced why.
TabloidBaby, com will have a complete reporrt from the scene.
