From TabloidBaby.com, September 2, 3:13 pm:
"1 Sarah Palin and her husband are from suburban Anchorage, Alaska. There are three things folks, even conservative Christian types, do in Alaska: Drink, screw and swing..."
From CBS News, today:
"John McCain’s campaign threatened legal action against the National Enquirer today for running a story about McCain’s running mate, Sarah Palin, allegedly having an affair with her husband’s business partner.
“'The smearing of the Palin family must end. The allegations contained on the cover of the National Enquirer insinuating that Gov. Palin had an extramarital affair are categorically false. It is a vicious lie,' said McCain senior adviser Steve Schmidt...
"'The efforts of the media and tabloids to destroy this fine and accomplished public servant are a disgrace. The American people will reject it.
"'Legal action will be considered with regard to this disgraceful smear.'"
The CBS News online story adds:
"The Enquirer has also paid sources in the past to speak with them, something mainstream media outlets do not do."
That is a lie. Not about the Enquirer, but about "mainstream media outlets"-- LIKE CBS NEWS!
In the end, the tabloid media are doing their job, and the "mainstream media" are doing theirs', having their cake and eating it by holding their noses while reporting on the tabloid reportage. And yeah, McCain's group will sue, just like Eddie Murphy sued-- make a big noise announcing it before quietly withdrawing the action down the road...
