Carry On, Peter Rogers!

Peter Rogers, the producer who created the Carry On films, has died at the age of 95.

"Mr. Carry On" produced all thirty-one of the classic British comedies and continued working in his office at the film studios until earlier this year. Rogers died peacefully at his home in Gerrards Cross, Buckinghamshire, on Tuesday afternoon following a short illness. The bawdy, innuendo-filled Carry On films began with Carry On Sergeant in 1958 and went on to feature teachers, matrons, jungles and camping among their themes. At the time of his death, he was in production with a revival of the series called Carry On London.

And yes, he was born with a double-entendre name. And, no kidding, his late wife was named Betty Box.
