Danny Gans' manager settles lawsuit aganst Donny & Marie; apologizes for "hurtful" comments that "may have been made"

Danny Gans' former manager Chip Lightman has gotten the "amicable" resolution to the lawsuit he fired against Donny & Marie Osmond for firing him as producer of their show at the Flamingo in Las Vegas, after all.

Lightman released a statement yesterday:

“I am pleased we were able to resolve this matter and am sorry that, in the heat of battle, comments may have been made that were hurtful to the Osmonds. Both Donny and Marie are talented, hardworking artists and I wish them continuing success in their careers.”

Donny responded:

“My sister and I want to thank Chip Lightman for great contributions he made in launching our show at the Flamingo. We look forward to the opportunity to work with him again in the future.”

"Comments (that) may have been harmful"?

"...work with him again in the near future?

Maybe Lightman really did have material for a tell-all in his pocket, as he'd threatened on Twitter before deleting the tweet.

In his suit against the toothsome twosome, the unloved Lightman accused Donny of being "underhanded, devious, fraudulent and greedy," being out to "line his own pockets with ill-gotten gains to fund his lavish lifestyle of exotic cars, luxury hotel suites and private jets," and acting in a manner that's "contrary to the wholesome, all-American, good-natured image that he presents to the public."

As for Marie? Lightman says the tragic mother was "liable for the fraud perpetrated by Donny through her acquiescence, awareness, and utter failure to disclose" his action.

Here is the truth....

Most regular folks don't really want to know what goes on behind the scenes when they make the decision to buy a ticket to see a show.....they don't really care who the manager of the act is or what the lifestyles of the entertainers are.....they really and truly just want to be entertained. Hence, the word "entertainer".
And although a tell-all book would perhaps sell, and even make Mr. Lightman a nice profit, which is the nature of capitalism and the free market....and what we all love about our country so very much.....it is my belief that the general public who enjoys being "entertained" would still purchase tickets to the show. In some instances, it may even bolster ticket sales. Hence, the saying "negative publicity is better than no publicity at all".
Don Osmond doesn't have to be afraid of anything, even if he is guilty of the accusations placed before him by Mr. Lightman. Hence, the old phrase "the show must go on". It must, for the audience's sake. And it will, whether Donny's true nature is the way Chip is describing it, or not. People love Donny Osmond. People loved their television show years ago...I watched it as well as millions of others.
I also have worked on the set of two infomercials that Marie has starred in during the past 2 years, and she is a consummate professional. Unbelievably knowledgeable in the "behind-the-scenes" stuff like lighting and such. She can direct, and produce any show she sets her mind to. She is fantastic in front of the camera and directs herself until she gets it the way she wants it. She is gorgeous to look at and mesmerizing in person. In my experience, she is adorable and fun to watch on the set. Between takes she spills nuggets from her past to us and engages us in her world so that being a paid audience filler suddenly becomes more than bearable, it becomes a journey with Marie and her life.
She is someone that everyone wants to be friends with, including me.
So, write the book. We will read it, and we will still love Donny and Marie Osmond. Hence, the saying "it's a win-win situation"!
And a big thank you to Chip Lightman for bringing them to Las Vegas. Whomever's idea it was, Chip's or Danny's, it was a great move. Continued success in the endeavors of all partied involved.
