Best album, acceptance of past 30 years

Oasis confirms its place as the world's greatest rock 'n' roll band by taking the Brit for best album of the past 30 years for (What's The Story) Morning Glory, hours after the disc was named to the Vatican's list of the Top 10 essential rock and pop albums. Accepted by Liam Gallagher. Presented by Noddy fucking Holder.

Tragic news: "Oasis is no longer"

In what must rank among the greatest tragedies in the history of rock 'n' roll music, Liam Gallagher confirms today that Oasis, the great rock 'n' roll band of all time, is offically broken up, over, history and "no longer."

The singer whose erratic and threatening behaviour reportedly led to a guitar-bashing brawl with his guitarist-bandleader brother Noel, the cancellation of a concert, tour and, in Noel's words, the end of the band, tells The Times of London:

“Well, Oasis is no longer. I think we all know that. So that’s done.”

Times2: “You genuinely feel that?”

Liam: “Oh, I know. Without a doubt. And it’s a shame but that’s life. We had a good run at it. The thing about Oasis is, no one... we ended Oasis. No one ended it for us. Which was pretty, kind of...cool, I’m thinking of what the next step is musically, which is all my mind’s on.”

For now, Liam will concentrate on his fashion line.

Sad day.

Liam vacations while Noel burns

Days after the latest breakup of the world's greatest rock 'n' roll band, Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher says his brother Liam is a "f***ing moron" while Liam has taken advantage of the traumatic split to run off on a vacation

Noel walked out of the band on Friday night a backstage brawl that canceled Oasis' appearance at the Rock en Seine in Paris.

According to the Sun, he old a pal later that night: "They say never work with children and animals. No one mentioned f***ing morons though, did they?

"I think all that modelling malarkey has gone to his head. It's a pleasure to give him time and space to work on his autumn-winter collection."

The Sun quotes sources who place the blame on Liam's heavy drinking and abusive behaviour throughout this latest tour, a bender that led to the cancellation of a big show a week ago.

"He has taunted Noel's girlfriend, Sara, other band members and the crew. People have been frightened to go near him.

"He is one very angry man who needs to sort his issues out."

The Sun says the bust-up occurred in Paris after Liam showed up drunk and Noel confronted him "about being unprofessional."

Liam "exploded in rage and started saying horrendous things about Noel's kids" before hurling an acoustic guitar at Noel, which Noel prompyly stomped on and smashed.

The Gallaghers reportedly stopped speaking a few years ago after Liam supposedly questioned the paternity of Noel's daughter.

While Noel lies low in London, photos in the Daily Mail show frontman Liam on an impromptu vacation this week on Italy's Lake Como, along with his wife and Oasis bassist Andy Bell.

The 36-year-old, recognized as the best singer n rock 'n' roll but not the most brainy, did not look concerned at all that the greatest rock 'n' roll band in the world is apparently over after 18 years, or that the latest blow-up with his brother has cost the Oasis organization an estimated £4.75million.

Bell's alliance with Liam could be a harbinger the band's decision whether to go on without its original leader and former sole songwriter.

Noasis? Noel says he quit because of "verbal and violent intimidation"

Noel Gallagher has elaborated on his reasons for walking out on the band he masterminded and brought to the top of the pops in the Nineties and, after giving up sole songwriting duties and ceding them to various bandmembers, commandeered through new hits and world tours until Friday.

He's quoted in a statement on the Oasis website:

“Dearly beloved, it is with a heavy heart and a sad face that I say this to you this morning.

As of last Friday the 28th August, I have been forced to leave the Manchester rock’n'roll pop group Oasis.

The details are not important and of too great a number to list. But I feel you have the right to know that the level of verbal and violent intimidation towards me, my family, friends and comrades has become intolerable. And the lack of support and understanding from my management and band mates has left me with no other option than to get me cape and seek pastures new.

I would like firstly to offer my apologies to them kids in Paris who’d paid money and waited all day to see us only to be let down AGAIN by the band. Apologies are probably not enough, I know, but I’m afraid it’s all I’ve got.

While I’m on the subject, I’d like to say to the good people of V Festival that experienced the same thing. Again, I can only apologise - although I don’t know why, it was nothing to do with me. I was match fit and ready to be brilliant. Alas, other people in the group weren’t up to it.

In closing I would like to thank all the Oasis fans, all over the world. The last 18 years have been truly, truly amazing (and I hate that word, but today is the one time I’ll deem it appropriate). A dream come true. I take with me glorious memories.

Now, if you’ll excuse me I have a family and a football team to indulge.

I’ll see you somewhere down the road. It’s been a fuckin’ pleasure.

Thanks very much.

Goodbye.”

Word is that Liam Gallagher and the other members of the band will decide whether to carry on without big brother.

Oasis split follows guitar-smashing fight

Noel Gallagher's announced split from his band Oasis followed a guitar-smashing altercation with his brother Liam. The band was set to play the Rock en Seine festival in Paris last night, but the crowd were told by Bloc Party, who were due to perform before Oasis, the band would not be taking the stage. Many in the audience assumed it was a joke until screens confirmed that the show was cancelled "as a result of an altercation with the band."

Scottish singer Amy Macdonald, who was playing at the French festival last night, wrote on her Twitter page shortly after 9pm, "Oasis cancelled again with one minute to stage time! Liam smashed Noel's guitar, huuuge fight"

She later updated: "Noel's quit."

Oasis pulled out of a headlining gig last weekend, supposedly because singer Liam had laryngitis.

Battles between the Gallagher brothers have marked and hurt the band's progress. Liam refused to join a US tour in 1995; Noel walked off a tour in 2000; all other original band members are long gone; the brothers recently confirmed they don't speak to each other. But this is the first official Gallagher resignation.

The Day The Music Died?

Noel Gallagher announced he's quit his band Oasis because he can't work another day with brother Liam. It's not the first time one of the brothers has walked out on the world's greatest rock 'n' roll band. We hope it will not be the last.

OASIS ATTACKED ONSTAGE!

Noel and Liam Gallagher were attacked onstage in Toronto last night. A man ran from backstage during Oasis' show at Virgin Festival and crashed into guitarist Noel, knocking him hard to the ground as the band played (What's The Story) Morning Glory. The man then appeared to clash with Liam before security rushed in and escorted him off stage in front of the shocked festival crowd.

Virgin's "security" spokesman said that unnamed man evaded both Virgin and Oasis security personnel in his dash onstage. No reason was given for the rush, but Nathan pointed out that both brothers were fine. After a 15 minute pause, the world's greatest rock 'n'roll band returned to the stage and finished the show.

Kate Moss is on a naked posing binge

Just when we were thinking that maybe Kate Moss was losing it to age, champagne and blow, our model comes on strong in the new issues of Interview and W magazines. And a golden statue of Kate (the largest since the time of ancient Egypt) will be unveiled at the British museum in October, the same month the new Oasis album is due (October 7th-- now on pre-order at iTunes). We're all young again.

We found the collection here. And yes, this is how we start getting readers back after a year of Israeli baseball coverage...
