'Farrah's Story,' the controversial and litigated NBC television spsecial based on Farrah Fawcett's cancer journal documentary and tweaked into a reality sequel to Ryan O'Neal's Love Story, lost out on the Emmy for Outstanding Nonfiction Special at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards ceremony this evening.
The Emmy went to The History Channel's '102 Minutes That Changed America.'
The battle over the rights to the special and its footage between Emmy-nominated executive producer Craig Nevius and O'Neal, his business manager and Farrah's friend Alana Stewart, will continue in court.
This was Farrah Fawcett's fourth Emmy nomination and many hoped it would have been her first, if posthumous, win. Farrah lost her battle against cancer on June 25th.

What a shame for not recognizing the bravery Farrah made public. In the end, she did raise cancer awareness so not a loss in any way. She should be proud of her efforts to bring this private matter public. Rest in peace Farrah!!
ReplyDeleteFarrah has already won ALL 4 EMMY'S in my mind !
ReplyDeleteHer battle, bravery and effort in this latest documentary was a true sign of an AMAZING woman!! It's sad the Emmy voter's did not see it, but her fans were inspired by her, as always ! THANKS to Farrah, Craig, Ryan , Alana, & all involved who help get this story told for anyone who this terrorist called cancer has touched.
Rest in Peace FARRAH- a true ICON !
What a Shame!!!! :)

I am glad it did not win because it was not what Farrah wanted it to be.Still, she has helped and inspired so many, that's her victory!!!As I listen to "I run for life" and "The bitch" I try to focus on what her strength and courage has taught me,she will always be rememberd.
ReplyDeleteCraig,THANKS SO MUCH!!!KEEP ON FIGHTING,DON'T GIVE IN!!!!

Sadly, no Emmy for Farrah....that's okay, the rewards are much greater where she is.
ReplyDelete2 Things: One the emmy's should do something in honor or Farrah Fawcett on the Sunday, Sept 20 show! #2 If Craig wins his lawsuit and re-does "A Wing and A Prayer" could it get a emmy next year?
ReplyDeleteAny thoughts people?
"The rewards are greater where she is." Are you kidding Orchids lady??? She is dead. Away from her son and friends and other loved ones? Doesn't sound like a place I'd like to be!!! Why do people always say people who have passed are in a "better place?" I can't stand these overly religious people. I am pretty sure she'd rather be ALIVE and on EARTH than dead. WTF?!
ReplyDeleteAnon,
ReplyDeleteIt's called Heaven, jerk. A place where your passed loved ones are waiting for you and there is no pain. Rather be 'overly religious' than judgemental. Sorry you don't understand.
Kibbi
Uh, "Kibbi" not everyone believes in heaven so YES, it is a religious assumption you dolt. Again, sure Farrah would rather be alive than in heaven. Give it some thought you one-sided dope.
ReplyDeleteDOLT HUH!!! WHAT I BELIEVE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT!! THERE ARE OTHER SIDES AND THAT IS THE REASON WE ALL HAVE OPINIONS!!! FARRAH DIDNT CHOSE TO LEAVE HER BODY DID, RAVAGED BY A HORRIBLE DISEASE!! SHE HAD NO CHOICE ! DOPE OR NOT I PERSONALLY BELIEVE NOW SHE IS FREE OF PAIN AND SUFFERING! NASTY WORDS ABOUT OTHERS OPINIONS, WHETHER SHORT MINDED OR NOT ARE OPINIONS!! WELCOME TO THE USA FREE SPEECH AND THOUGHTS KIBBI
ReplyDeleteAnon,
ReplyDeleteSorry that "you can't stand these overly religious people", but a lot of people DO believe in Heaven.....Farrah CLEARLY did...if that is a problem for you...why are you even commenting?
Because I can, that's why. Deal with it.
ReplyDelete"Because I can, that's why".....WOW, Great reason.
ReplyDeleteJust curious there, Anon at 9:18. Why would you even take the time to read, let alone comment, on an article about Farrah--someone who was very spritual and one of those 'people you can't stand'??
ReplyDeleteI know, because you can.
ReplyDeleteA Wing and a Prayer hopefully will get finished the way FARRAH WANTED,not some exploitive Ryan O'neal Love Story reference to revive his career or make it about him. Emmy voters look for depth and questions that need answered or that are answered in this category that Farrah's Story was in. What we saw on
ReplyDeleteMay 15th 2009 was not that, yes it was touching and sad to watch her battle this disease but it was more of a E true hollywood story and that's not what a serious meanigful documentary is about.
Watch the Sundance Channel and there you will see a real documentary and that's what Craig and Farrah wanted. There were others at that clinic that were fighting cancer and were to be included in A Wing And A Prayer that were not shown in Ryan and Alana's final version. Im not attacking Farrah Im just saying it was not Emmy worthy, now Farrah's vision real vision was worthy but that's not what we saw.
A lifetime achievement award is overdue and I hope the Emmys do a special tribute to Farrah and Bea Arthur as they both are/were tv legends who broke barriers and I hope like Arron Spelling in 2006 farrah and Bea Arthur get the same tribute.
Good luck Craig and I hope you get Farrah's vision out there.
When your honest and know your right you don't need James Van Praugh like Alana who had James contact Farrah from beyond.
Etonline Alana Stewart interview on her contacting FF through James. The Blind Leading The Blind!!!!!!
I didn't see the "winner" but felt Farrah should have won. I know what we saw was not her vision; but as a viewer; as well as loved one of someone that fought, I'm not sure the world is ready to really know the face of cancer.
ReplyDeleteThe rest of me feels that this was supposed to lose; that Farrah had a hand in it from heaven. She showed her disapproval.
Craig, once again, you have my support.
Anon Monday, September 14, 2009 10:42:00 AM PDT - I agree; there should be something done for those that don't win but deserve to have won.
ReplyDeleteHow is it that an icon like Farrah can be so popular; known by one name, yet there is nothing except icon status?
As far as afterlife; I watch ghost whisperer; I believe spirits hang around until they feel free to go. I do not feel Farrah has left us yet.
Only in America...where some think freedom of speech means you can open your mouth with a closed mind and heart,'just because you can', would someone find something nasty to say to someone commenting on Farrah being in Heaven. Geez.
