EXCLUSIVE! NEW ONLINE RULES LEAD TO PULITZER PRIZE NOMINATIONS FOR TABLOIDBABY.COM!


The Pulitzer Prize board's decision to accept submissions from online news organizations has led to the first Pulitzer Prize nominations for Tabloidbaby.com!

The site's editor Burt Kearns and correspondent Elli Wohlgelernter have been put up for American journalism's highest honor for their "exclusive online coverage and editorials on the fall of professional baseball in Israel."

The nominations are in the categories of

"a distinguished example of investigative reporting by an individual or team, presented as a single article or series, in print or online or both...

"a distinguished example of reporting on international affairs, in print or online or both..."


and

"distinguished commentary, in print or online or both."

Elli Wohlgelernter's exclusive, explosive coverage of the first season of the Israel Baseball League was published in newspapers around the world, but only after appearing exclusively on the Los Angeles-based TabloidBaby.com. Wohlgelernter, known to Tabloid Baby readers as Our Man Elli in Israel, continued to break stories on the behind-the-scenes machinations and provided feature stories and commentary on the subject for a steady year (the entire year-long series can be found at here, culminating on August 28th.

The nominations were tendered by veteran journalist and legman Sam Peters of Sam Peters Public Relations, Inc.

When our editor was reached for comment, he said, "This is surely an honor. We've been saying Elli's deserving of a Pulitzer for months. Now it's up to the board to do the right thing."
