Maybe they should change the name of the movie to 'The Bad News Baras'?

Ouch! Lost in the shuffle of all the controversy over the Israel Baseball League that has raged on this site is the documentary movie about the league's birth! No, it's not "Mel Brooks' The Producers 2," it's called Holy Land Hardball and it's due out on the spring.

Three nice Jewish boys-- and experienced directos and producers are behind the film. Brett Rapkin directed, produced and edited “Spaceman: A Baseball Odyssey,” an independent film about former Boston Red Sox lefty Bill “Spaceman” Lee. Erik Kesten won an Emmy for HBO’s terrific Curse of the Bambino and co-produced HBO's Mantle. Executive producer Matthew Hilyzik worked five annd a half years for Harvey Weinstein at Miramax! They've all got lots more credits you can read about here.

On the trailer above and the one you can see here on their site, you can put some faces to some of the names that have been tossed around on this site over the past few months.

The doco looks to be topnotch. But as they say, the ending may be unwritten...

Can you come up with a more topical name for Holy Land Hardball? Be the readers' favorite and win an autographed copy of the book Tabloid Baby!
