on the arab/jew semite issue: technically, that is correct, jews and arabs are semites. but antisemitism as we have come to know it is directed against jews, and those who make an issue out of it are invariably antisemites. one way out, which i endorse and is the style at a few papers, is to spell it as one word, not with the hyphen (anti-semite/tism), as that is only jew-hating and nothing else.
